Please be aware that there have been reports of people going to door-to-door, posing as employees from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) or trying to take advantage of the crisis through email and donation scams.
This is a scam and an attempt to potentially defraud the residents of Hudson County. To be clear, the CDC is not going door to door in wake of the COVID-19 outbreak or seeking monetary donations. In the event that you are approached at home or receive an email from anyone claiming to be from the CDC seeking any type of donation or monetary contribution, we recommend that you contact the police immediately.
County Clerk Junior Maldonado warns “Hudson County residents not only need to be vigilant in regards to social distancing and practicing proper hygiene during the COVID-19 outbreak, but also should be alert to those that try to profit off the pandemic.”
We ask you all to practice common sense in wake of this new information and of course stay safe and healthy.
